excuse me, but i posted a topic in let's talk, and it was seemingly deleted for no reason. what happened to freedom of speach, and this site not being parents?
it was the vending machine one, and what gives staff the right to delete something that wasn't causing problems? i would really like to know. cuz that's just odd.
and if you say it was because it was a game, well what is this now, we can't post game topics if we want. well...
um, maybe it wasn't posted in the correct place. so it was moved?if you say it was a game, then it's probably in the game topic? just a thought. lol! I have never known any cl to remove posts unless they are against the tos. so check into it instead of ranting.
Well, that was my first thought too. That it was just that this topic had been moved to the game parlor bored and indeed that may well be the case but here's the thing, game parlor has vanished! I mean it just isn't there anymore. Not that I'm complaining personally because it drove me crazy, but I can see how others might be a little disgruntled by this. What has happened to the game parlor?
Have I missed something here, has it been moved to another part of the site as many of us have wished for for quite some time? Or has it been merged with another board? Or has it just been deleted. One things for certain, it isn't there anymore.
Dan.
it's been deleted with only the explanation that people were complaining about it. Board filtering would be nice to have so that nothing has to be deleted.
I won't repeat what I've already said on another post in another topic, but there are many reasons I don't agree with this, and it has nothing to do with the fact that the user-created games are not there. So, to sum it up, I'll agree with Darkwing. The disclaimer on the site says that it is user-driven, and that the staff are not our parents. This certainly isn't showing that disclaimer to be true.
and the bitching and continues. So what stupid lil games went away move on trust me it isn't the end of the world. Its pretty simple you don't like a certain site because of how its being managed then simply don't come to it noone is forcing you.
here's an idea jess, let's complain till they take away the let's talk board next, hmm.
Nah. Let's just disappear altogether. If they realize that people are just kind of disappearing, they might start paying attention. I realize all the staff have lives offline, and that's awesome. I wouldn't want it to be any other way, with anybody, staff or otherwise, but if you can't run the site, give it to someone who can, and if you want to, then maybe, I don't know, start addressing all the bugs instead of the few little ones that catch your interest. Am I wrong? I hope so, but the actions of the staff lately, or lack there of, is suggesting that I am not wrong. It's pretty obvious that our so-called "bitching and complaining" is just going to be shot down by those who think their own complaining matters more. This is a good site, mind you. I like a lot of its features, and realistically, I probably won't be disappearing because of this, but I am exercising my freedom of speech on the site, as it says I have in the disclaimer, and if you don't like it, don't read it.
I agree with Jess, totally.
And to a previous poster (it's pretty obvious who it is) I'll respect what you have to say when you learn to write. Sentence structure and punctuation are your friends. God, I break sentence structures a lot, but that's shameful if you want to be taken seriously...
just sayin', just sayin'
i too agree with jess.
and yes to freedom of speach, but when we do, what we do to pass the time gets killed. which is what i started this topic over.
oh well.
actually i'd say that the removal of the game board does follow the disclaimer about the site being user driven. i've seen more anti games than i've seen pro games.
Hmm. Can you clarify that?
i've seen more people voiceing their opinion opposing all the games and how they make the boards difficult or annoying to read. I haven't seen many people in favor of the games. at least those in favor haven't voiced their opinion like those who aren't in favor. therefore, since the site is driven by it's members. more people have voiced their opinion against the games, so the games are gone.
how about a competition. A new type of gane maybe writing.
I know there were some people who were completely against the game parlour board, but people were mainly complaining about how the game parlour topics made the topics with new posts page harder to navigate, not about the board itself. This is why in my opinion, creating filters would have been a better option than to just take the board offline. So I think the admins have basically said "well the users are complaining that we don't update the site, yet I really don't wanna put any effort in to the site anymore''' I know, let's take the easy way out of the game parlour problem and remove the entire thing, then people won't complain and we don't have to bother actually making an effort to implement something like board filters"; that's how I see it anyway. They have said in the past that it would be a "coding nightmare" to move the game parlour board to another part of the site because it would involve having to try and get the board out of the boards code database without destroying either the game parlour or the entire boards system. Oh and here's something interesting: when I first saw the other topic about the game parlour, I tried to access the board by typing in the board's ID number in to the end of the boards url (i checked from 1 to 60). While most of the ID's either went to a different board or gave an error saying "you have requested a category that does not exist", ID's 18 and 38 gave an error which stated "you are not allowed to view this category". This implies that the game parlour board may not have been deleted (yet), but the permissions have been changed so that users can no longer access it. This would explain why people's post counts have not gone down. I did check this over a week ago so this may have changed, but just thought i'd share that info anyway.
thanks for that info I'll finally be able to get some sleep tonight lol. Just move on its a simple board your life won't change dromaticly so yeah. Personally I'm really glad it got takken off or whatever it may be and hope that it stays that way hehe.
that is good info to know, and now, that they remove it, they delete posts from anyone that makes a game, in the general board where these things can go.
and, people don't complain about the board, just the fact that they take up all the new topics. so i do agree about the board filtering.
urg. someone once told me, do what is right instead of what is easy.
and that is true, they did what is easy and lazy instead of the right thing.
Totally agree with the professional in this case. People complain about the annoyance of Game Parler's topics always showing up in topics with new posts, not the board itself. Besides, using the topics with new posts is not manditory for board-viewing, but since it is a valued feature of the site, why not just create the filters instead. It has been suggested before. I'm not a coding expert by any means, but is this idea impossible? I don't know, because I can't find a staff response to the suggestion.
Izzito, it's not about the Game Parler. It's about the thought, and the fact that if there is a topic on "Let's Talk" that looks like a game, it's gone, just because it's a game. What if I were to create a topic with the word "game" in it? Does that mean an automatic deletion? Hmm. Let's add "Parler" to the list of forbidden words to be included in topic titles.
